ANNUAL Membership ELECTIONS

The ELECTION process:

• Director Nominations

  • Nominations for Directors will be taken from October 1st to November 30th of each calendar year.

  • Please volunteer or encourage other “Active Members” to volunteer by filling out the application under the Director Nomination Form tab or by contacting our business office for an application. The tab will only be enabled during the election nomination period. 

  • Applications received after the November 30th deadline will not be placed on the ballet, but the membership may vote for an untimely nominee as a “write-in” director as provided on the ballet.

• Voting

  • Per the South Gate bylaws only “Active Members” in the South Gate subdivision can hold a directorship and vote.

  • Each property in the subdivision will have one (1) vote per election per property. The property owner will designate the voting member.

  • Elections will be held for the Directors and other membership business at the “December” regular meeting of the Board.

  • Ballets will be available at the meeting for all “Active Members”.

  • If you are not able to attend the December meeting, all Active Members may vote by Proxy. The Election Proxy Form tab will be enabled only during the election period.

• Proxy Voting

  • Starting December 5th of each year, a Proxy form will be available as follows: (i) ONLINE (see the Election Proxy Form tab) , (ii) pick up the form at the SGCA Office, or (iii) the form will be emailed to the member upon request.

  • To be legally effective, each Proxy must be completed in the manner set forth on the form.

  • Proxy forms must signed and returned by the start of the December meeting. No forms will be counted after the regular December Board meeting.

• Election Results

  • Votes will be counted at the December regular meeting by non-board member volunteers.

  • The board reserves the right, by vote, to hold the voting process open if the requirements in the bylaws and/or Florida legal requirements are not met at the December meeting.

  • If the board does not hold the membership vote “open” then the non-board volunteers will provide the ballets and proxies, along with the results to the secretary or appliable board direction at the conclusion of the December meeting.

  • If the association fails to receive enough nominees to fill the vacancies available at the election, then the Director seats will be filled by the nominees and considered as voted by the membership per applicable laws.

  New Directors, Membership Business and Officers:

  • All incoming Directors will be announced and seated at the Annual Meeting of the Membership (date and time to be announced).

  • All business subject to membership approvals will be conducted by the requirements set forth in the bylaws for the approval of such business.

  • Board Officers will be elected by a separate meeting of the the Board immediately following the Annual Membership Meeting and will be announced.
